What is it about?

Our association organises a Coffee Talks activity every Thursday at LOBA Café, located on the Cumhuriyet University campus. Our slogan: “We serve the coffee, you shape the learning.” Within this activity plan, we designed learning materials that support both English speaking practice and knowledge growth on EU opportunities and Erasmus & European Solidarity Corps programmes. Inspired by the Monopoly game, we developed two original games called Europoly and Tabudesk. Every week, we invited new participant youth and played these games together. While practising English speaking, we created an interactive and engaging learning atmosphere.

How is this project relevant to the specific category?

The activity aligns with the Creative Youth Information category, as it transforms complex European opportunities and mobility information into accessible, interactive, and youth-friendly formats. Rather than relying on passive information delivery, young people engaged with Europoly and Tabudesk games during Coffee Talks sessions, which encourage dialogue, peer exchange, and experiential learning. Game-based scenarios introduce Erasmus actions, volunteering pathways, youth rights, and decision-making processes in a simple and motivating way, enhancing retention and genuine understanding.

Creativity is evident in the design of original learning tools inspired by familiar board games, adapted to local youth culture and informal café settings. The relaxed environment lowers language barriers, builds confidence in English communication, and supports active participation from students with different skill levels. Visual cards, role tasks, and challenge questions cater to diverse learning styles, thereby increasing accessibility and inclusion.

What was the impact of the project?

The project created a visible impact on young people and the local university campus through accessible youth information, social interaction, and skill growth. Weekly Coffee Talks sessions at LOBA Café attracted students who rarely join formal youth activities. The informal setting supported confidence growth, English communication practice, and peer connection, which reduced social isolation and increased motivation to engage in European opportunities.

Young people gained clear awareness of Erasmus+, volunteering, DiscoverEU, and mobility routes through Europoly and Tabudesk games. Complex information became easier to understand through real-life scenarios, quizzes, and group challenges. Many participants started follow-up conversations with Eurodesk volunteers, searched for opportunities, and shared information with peers. Several students expressed interest in future youth exchanges and volunteering actions.

At community level, the project increased the visibility of Eurodesk services and reliable youth information. Social media posts and short videos extended reach beyond physical sessions and encouraged new participants to join. Cooperation with a local café created a sustainable and youth-friendly space for informal learning.

Did the project have any green focus?

The project integrated environmental awareness and eco-friendly practices into daily activities. Sessions took place in a local café within walking distance for most participants, which reduced transport-related emissions. Digital promotion replaced printed materials, using social media, QR codes, and online resources for information access. Game materials were reused across multiple sessions to reduce waste. Participants used personal cups when possible, and disposable plastics were avoided in cooperation with the venue. Discussions during Coffee Talks also linked European opportunities with sustainability themes, green volunteering, and climate action programmes, which increased environmental awareness among young people. These practices supported responsible resource use, low-impact event organisation, and environmentally conscious behaviour within the youth community.

How did you ensure Eurodesk's visibility in your project?

Eurodesk visibility grew via Coffee Talks, branded games, social posts, QR links, and peer promotion.
