An exhibition of frairtrade products was held and eco-friendly films were screened. The event also included a charity bazaar, the proceeds of which were intended for the organization of the visually impaired TyfloCentrum Karlovy Vary.

Why does it correspond to the thematic category:

Students were involved in the preparation of the event. Before the event, they were asked which topics they were interested in and according to these requirements the programme was designed. Students were introduced to the topic of ecology in a playful way and with all their senses. There were film screenings, tasting of fairtrade products, they could make a product from used materials, lectures and discussions on ecological topics and they could participate in a charity collection that was organized for the benefit of visually impaired citizens in the Karlovy Vary Region.

The impact the initiative had on young people and the local community:

The event raised awareness of the EU Green Deal and stimulated debate among students and teachers on how they can be environmentally friendly in their daily lives and which existing information resources they can use. Students learned how they can travel green, which local food they can buy, how they can use reuse materials, swap or upcycle when shopping, how they can save natural resources, etc. This information will help them to change their behaviour towards sustainable development.

How it ensured the visibility and promotion of Eurodesk:

The Eurodesk presentation focused on Time to move, Discover EU and youth mobility activities. Promo videos for the campaign were shown. Eurodesk publications and Erasmus+ promotional materials were distributed. The campaign was also publicised on our website and Facebook pages.

How it respected the green principles:

The whole event was focused on ecology, ecological products were promoted, used clothes were sold. Furthermore, no plastic utensils or cutlery were used. Students travelled by buses or trains. All participants were informed about ecological and sustainable behaviour.
