During the Eurodesk action period of “Time to Move”, we organised a pub quiz for young people around the topics of travelling, Europe, and mobility. The event was held at the Gleisgarten in Vienna, together with Quizmanufaktur, who provided the questions for the quiz and also the moderation for the event. The main prize for the winning group was a voucher for an escape room.
What is it about?
How is this project relevant to the specific category?
Sometimes a simple info session may not be appealing to everyone. That’s why we wanted to reach out to young people with a creative and non-formal approach and inform them about the opportunities that EU funding and projects can offer. The central event was the pub quiz, but around that, we informed people about our youth information centre and about volunteering with the European Solidarity Corps or creating their own solidarity projects. We also wanted them to have a good time and to think about some questions concerning Europe in the informal atmosphere of the Gleisgarten, which is a food market with different bars and restaurants in a former train station.
What was the impact of the project?
Twenty-four young people came to our pub quiz and took part in it. Before the quiz started, we greeted all the participants and also briefly introduced the ESC opportunities for young people. During the quiz, the groups were very involved in thinking about the questions together and finding the correct answers. We invited all of them to have non-alcoholic drinks while the quiz was going on, making the event more accessible to young people in difficult economic situations.
