Title of the project
ENCUENTRO IBERO-INSULAR DE CORRESPONSALES JUVENILES
Start date:
26/6/2022
End date:
30/6/2022
Objectives:
The Eurodesk Es033 Multiplier, Intercambia, together with other multipliers of the network, such as the Directorate General of Youth of the Community of Madrid, representing its Network of Youth Information Centres, together with the Andalusian Youth Institute (IAJ), the Valencian Youth Institute (IVAJ) and the Directorate General of Youth of the Region of Murcia and ERIYCA have jointly promoted the activity. After two years of the pandemic, we have organised a training meeting in person, a space in which a group of 200 young people from Spain and Portugal, 25 Youth Technicians, and 15 political directors of youth have been able to share and express their ideas and concerns and carry out activities related to the development and promotion of the figure of the Youth Correspondent. In our meeting, we have worked on the figure of the youth correspondent as a figure of participation in the creation and dissemination of youth information for young people. Objectives: -To create a space for youth participation of a horizontal nature, in which young people from different territories, social backgrounds and interests participate, connect, and coordinate. - To create a sense of identity and belonging to a collective. - To establish networks of connection and to create an Iberian network of youth correspondents. - To strengthen the training of youth correspondents. - Promote and encourage the development of correspondent programs in other Autonomous Communities.
Why the project was: empowering young people, adapting to changing realities, or thinking out of the box:
Youth correspondents (information antennae, cyber-mentors, influencers, etc.) are fundamental figures for youth information. They make it possible to decentralise Youth Information Services (YIS) and establish a direct connection with them through a horizontal, peer-to-peer communication model while encouraging their participation. Youth correspondents function as transmitters of information in a double sense: they collect the concerns and preferences of young people in the area in which they operate and try to provide them with information on topics of interest to them through a close, youthful channel and in their own language. Its task, therefore, is to bring and provide accurate and quality information to other young people and the aim is that young people themselves develop the content of the information based on their own demands. We have applied a participatory, dynamic, and interactive methodology with a playful and formative character composed of training and informative workshops (correspondent skills, SDG values, healthy youth, communication and social networks, European programs, etc.), interactive spaces with group dynamics, impact and visibility activities, SWOT analysis, networking and a structured dialogue between young people and general directors.
How the project was inclusive:
The European dimension of this project is the coexistence of young people from all Spanish regions, as well as from 6 Portuguese regions including the outermost regions of the European Union. Moreover, the European dimension of the project is one of the results of the project due to the creation of communication platforms between participants from both countries and different regions for the development of future actions. In addition, working groups have been created between participants from different origins to develop new programs, actions, and tools to help the dissemination and promotion of information and youth participation. We have developed specific actions related to European information and European mobility programmes.
Green aspect:
The development of this project has been considered.sustainable transport for most of the participants who have travelled to our facilities in Malaga. Recycled and reused training material. Food with local products. Sessions using digital tools to avoid paper consumption.

Impact:
Among the results, we hoped to obtain feedback from the young people on what could be improved in the work with the youth correspondents, and to create synergies with other groups from different Communities and collaboration networks with Portugal. The young people showed that, in many of their Autonomous Communities, the Youth Correspondents program lacks movement as the information comes mainly at the local level and not at the regional level, in fact, many young people said that beyond their localities, they do not know what is being done in other municipalities or even in the capital of the Autonomous Community. The importance of correspondents in the autonomous communities: to be present in schools; Be a point of reference for other young people; Decentralised information (speak the same language). Dissemination: they make it easier for information to reach more young people; Inform about available opportunities and resources that young people do not know about; Conduct activities by young people for young people. We attach more results achieved by participants that are super powerful.
