Title of the project

Meslek Edindirme

Start date:

11/2/2022

End date:

19/7/2022

Objectives:

In Kilis, it can be said that the rate of enrollment is low for individuals aged 14-18 under temporary protection. The continuing migration from Syria to our country causes individuals to experience disruptions in their education and training processes. When this situation is combined with economic conditions, it causes them to start working life at a young age. This situation causes children to work in heavy labour lines at a young age and causes them to be deprived of their most basic right, the right to education. As Kilis Youth Center, we decided to open vocational courses for disadvantaged individuals to access a qualified business life. In this context, we signed a cooperation protocol with Kilis Provincial Directorate of National Education and started the process. An average of 250 hours of hairdressing and general accounting courses for boys and girls aged 14-18 were successfully completed. Students received their Course Completion Certificates approved by the Ministry of National Education.

How the project was inclusive:

With this project, it is aimed to provide vocational training to individuals with Turkish and foreign protection status. While creating the trainee lists, announcements were made through social media and school promotions and field studies. Equality of opportunity is aimed by using the preferred profile for disadvantaged individuals. Groups were formed by paying attention to the equal distribution of the number of Turkish and Syrian students. Thus, it is aimed to prevent discrimination with equal opportunities. Due to the fact that our Centre is the Eurodesk contact point during the course, students were raised awareness by conducting introductory and informative studies about Eurodesk.

Green aspect:

The containers of the products used and finished during the hairdressing course were evaluated within the scope of the recycling workshop created within the Youth Center and were reused as water and food containers for street animals. In addition, the hair that was cut during the course was collected and evaluated as welding and wig hair.
