Objectives:

“YEAH Creativity” is a project developed by Iglesias' Informagiovani Eurodesk. The word YEAH stands for Y young, E fun, A skill and H happiness. The main objective of the project was to develop convivial moments together with young people, in which to dialogue, create networks, distract themselves in harmony and try to develop and/or discover/rediscover new skills through creative activities structured for them. The young people (aged between 18 and 35) joined the project in complete autonomy. The project was promoted through social channels and word of mouth among friends and relatives (who also stopped by the office). Our territory has always been characterized by people with various problems and disadvantages, also from an inclusive point of view. This project involved and included young people with fewer opportunities (from an income, study, psychological point of view, young people who arrived from foreign countries or from any kind of life story), giving them a space in which to interact and distract themselves from everyday life(often problematic for them also due to previous traumas). Through this project, the young people had the opportunity to make themselves heard, to talk about their experience even through moments of play and breaks.

Why does it correspond to the thematic category:

We chose the category “Creative Information for Young People” because we involved young people in activities that provided information on European projects and opportunities through creative methods. The project developed into three meetings, each with different moments and interactive options, focused on Europe and its opportunities:First meeting: young people participated in team games, including a super quiz on Europe as an icebreaker. Subsequently, they were involved in three musical games:“Guess the song”: the teams had to guess the title of an Italian or international song just from the words of the lyrics.“Missing letters”: participants completed the missing words in the lyrics of Italian or international songs.“Indoeuropa?”: through musical riddles, participants had to guess the title and author of an Italian or international song.Second meeting: the kids faced the “EURODESK IS SERVED” challenge, where two teams completed a symbolic lunch made up of 5 “meals=European opportunities”. These opportunities include volunteer exchanges, au pairs, DiscoverEU, seasonal work and civil service in Italy or abroad.Third meeting: young people participated in the “ECO…DESK” game, dedicated to ecology, which highlighted sustainable mobility and mental health when traveling abroad. Objective achieved: homogeneous group, constructive discussions, personal, human and ecological growth of young people. 🌱🗣️🌟

The impact the initiative had on young people and the local community:

Our initiative has had a significant impact on young people. The geographical area in which we live has always been marked by numerous economic challenges. Our project has created vital new steps, characterized by information on opportunities for skills development and personal growth, commitment and empowerment. One of the most tangible impacts of our initiative is evident in the increased awareness and participation of young people, offering them creative and engaging activities. We were able to attract a youth population that would otherwise have been disengaged. The project also offered these young people the opportunity to become active in something and avoid remaining stagnant like NEETs (Not in Education, Employment, or Training). Many young participants requested subsequent participation in various European programs and initiatives that offer avenues for personal and professional development.

How it ensured the visibility and promotion of Eurodesk:

The activities are always published and advertised through our social channels and by the public we receive every day. For each proposed activity, a poster is developed, which is then published online and printed and also placed in the office.

How it respected the green principles:

Our initiative was in line with Eurodesk ecological principles through:- Recycled materials: we have prioritized the use of recycled materials in our design activities, reducing waste and minimizing our environmental impact. Each activity proposed by our office is developed by the operator and in this case the proposed activities were carried out using cards, sheets of paper, markers and pens (all material already available inthe office). Furthermore, slides, images and sounds were reproduced with the help of equipment already used in everyday life. Sustainability was an important theme, addressed above all within the ECO...DESK game, a game created to allow the operator to interact with the kids who participated in topics such as environmental conservation and sustainable living to promote environmental awareness, responsible behavior starting from ourselves and those around us, reflecting the values and principles of Eurodesk.
