What is it about?

Our project aimed, in the broadest sense, to mobilise young people living in urban and rural areas to become active and involved in social life. By implementing activities on 5 December, World Volunteer Day, we aimed to draw attention to the issue of volunteering, to create awareness about volunteering among our target groups by directly involving them and implementing activities, and in this way, to encourage and motivate each participant to volunteer through the activities they experienced.

Our target groups were young people aged 18–30.

We conducted informational activities using non-formal education techniques. We implemented indoor and outdoor activities. We held competitions. We carried out activities for street animals. We implemented activities for children. We organised programmes on the Sustainable Development Goals. We implemented activities for people with disabilities. We involved young people from our target groups in each activity in real time.

How is this project relevant to the specific category?

In our project, we chose to proceed by directly involving our target groups in all activities. Routine activities are usually informational in nature. In this study, we focused on moving our target groups from a passive listener role to active participation. We didn’t make any announcements, accept applications, or hold selections. We included all the young people we could reach in our activities at that moment.

What was the impact of the project?

Our project was planned and implemented by our Eurodesk volunteers. Experts were sometimes involved in the work. Our team planned and carried out simultaneous work in many locations. They achieved significant improvement in communication and coordination.

Our target groups, and therefore the participants in our project, learned about volunteering, youth work, and activism through experience. They gained first-hand knowledge about Eurodesk and actively participated in its activities. Following our project, our organisation received applications from people wanting to become Eurodesk volunteers.

Did the project have any green focus?

One of the main activities of our project was the Sustainable Development Goals. Information campaigns were conducted on this topic, and then all activities were implemented by focusing on one of the goals as a theme. Environmental activities, such as cleaning, distributing food to stray animals, placing birdhouses and feeders in trees, and a photography competition on sustainability and volunteerism, were planned and implemented with this approach.

How did you ensure Eurodesk's visibility in your project?

In our project, we aimed to increase Eurodesk’s visibility by using the Eurodesk logo on all materials. We prepared and distributed invitations as a Eurodesk contact point. We used posters, flags, and brochures in the event areas. As an organisation, we used Eurodesk logo signs that we designed. We included Eurodesk information in our presentations.
