With a history of impactful projects, such as The Young Mayors Program, and increased motivation for youth participation in the town, it has become more reasonable for young people to stay alert for youth opportunities within the community. Several activities associated with the Young Mayors Program and others developed by the Town Hall, along with its Youth Office, have fostered open-mindedness among young people in schools and the community, leading to a greater predisposition to actively participate in youth programmes. Therefore, the impact of this specific project, The Capacitating Youth 2024 (Capacita Jovem 2024), which operates without any European funding, has been warmly embraced by local young people. The development of this project empowers youth by providing opportunities and knowledge in volunteering locally, while also preparing them to consider international opportunities in the future.

Given the abundance of such opportunities and the Municipality of Vila Nova de Poiares serving as a Eurodesk Multiplier, we have had the chance to provide local youth with more information on local, national, and international opportunities. This specific project influences future mobility opportunities while simultaneously strengthening the process of becoming active young citizens and, eventually, active adult citizens. The opportunities available to the young people of the community clearly motivate youngsters to participate and reassure the Municipality of its efforts to effectively involve young people in decision-making processes. These efforts encourage active participation in European opportunities and promote European values and a sense of belonging among young people.
